Described as ‘boutique industrial', appropriate for a business manufacturing hi-tech specialist glass, the newly refurbished glass and aluminium clad Reflex Glass factory makes a truly stunning reflection of its surroundings. From some angles an observer would be hard pushed to tell where the sky finishes and the building begins.

Pleased as they are with the refurbishment, the entry for the award was in fact submitted not by Reflex, but by Charnwood borough council. “The transformation of the main road building was remarkable”, say local planners. Reflex Glass is a fast-track company that manufactures solar control roof glass for conservatories and switch-able smart glass both for on / off privacy as well as control of light within commercial and domestic buildings. The high profile company has enjoyed rapid growth with its LCD Smart-Tint units, which are now being specified in designer homes and the commercial refurbishment market. “We are supplying our units for use in houses, schools and offices, penthouses, and even boats!” exclaims Scott Nicholas, Managing Director of Reflex Glass.

“Other glass processors in the industry are also buying Reflex Glass units to help differentiate from competitors. With the current demand, delivery lead time has slipped to six weeks, but with the purchase of a second factory next door we hope to bring this back to only four weeks in September.”
